The "Akin-Effect": Anti-Science GOP Representatives Want To Lead House Science Committee
Did You Know...?
Congressional Representative Todd Akin (R) MO (the "women's bodies magically prevent pregnancies during 'legitimate rape'" guy) serves on the House Science Committee?
I think most of us would like to know: Whom, exactly, is the undercover refugee from what must be a whack-a-mole, whack-a-do parallel universe (who obviously extorted some other moronic mover-and-shaker in order to acquire a Congressional seat) thought THAT was a sensible - or, Gd forbid, ideal - choice?!
Now, in a closely-related and timely coincidence, three seats have opened up on that very same House Science Committee.
And Get This... The top three Republican Congressional Representatives actively trying to acquire those Science Committee Seats are - like Todd Akin before them - all Anti-Science/Science-Rejecting Republicans (Well, shut mah mouth!).
*Please! *Please! *Please, Dear Congress... In this very instant... Please swear that you will - now and forever - stop staffing the House Science Committee (or any as-yet-to-be-formed committee whose task will be to brainstorm new, efficient, effective, achievable plans/regulation/legislation that will successfully combat/hopefully roll-back global warming) with Learning-Ain't-Fundamental, Dinosaur-Flatulence-Causes-Global-Warming members of what Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) LA, himself, referred to as: "The Stupid Party".

Ohio Sec'y Of State Husted's 11th Hr Directive To Trash Legal Votes And Swing The Election

Obama, Christie tour N.J. While In Ohio Romney Stages "See Mitt Give!" Photo-Op Disguised As "Relief Event"
Happy All Hallow's Eve! Yes, I know it's past midnight. S' O.K.: Ev'ry Day is Halloween in San Francisco! :p
Having suspended his campaign before Hurricane Sandy struck in order to organize, plan, initiate and co-ordinate swift, effective federal support and assistance to the areas hit the hardest, President Obama spent Wednesday with N.J. Gov. Chris Christie (R) in Marine I surveying the extensive and stunning level of damage done to New Jersey by the Superstorm.
You wouldn't think it now - hearing the much-deserved praise Governor Christie has been heaping on the President, FEMA, the federal government's response time and swiftness of effective action (no post-Katrina entropy here) - but just two weeks ago the RNC Keynote Speaker and Romney surrogate was making a public appearance in which he verbally raked President Obama over the coals for being "a failure". Prior to the natural disaster, such baseless criticism was just classic, caustic Christie.
So, what has Mitt Romney been up to (other than carpet-bombing the airwaves in Ohio and other swing-states with TV and Radio ads filled with blatant, patently-false accusations)? Hmmm... Well, on Tuesday, Mitt put lipstick on a pig and renamed an Ohio "Romney Victory Rally" a "Storm Relief Event". What's the difference? The Romney campaign asked attendees to bring canned foods to the venue for collection/donation to The Red Cross/Sandy Relief.
What a nice gesture - Right? Wrong. It was the hollowest of gestures. A fraud. A ruse. In Truth, the whole "Relief"-reboot was calculated and staged to facilitate a 'Compassionate Mitt' photo-op. How do I know? Because Romney staffers went on a mad rush to Wal-Mart the eve before and purchased $5000.00 worth of food, goods, diapers.
Upon their return to the event location, they piled their Wall-haul in front of the entrance to the designated "Take a pic with Mitt" area. And, when people showed up empty-handed, they could be directed to the Wall o'goods, instructed to grab, say, a can of peanut butter, walk in, hand it to Mitt - which was his cue to then say, as earnestly as possible, "Thank you." and - "Say 'Cheese'!" - a campaign staffer would then snap a photograph of the oh-so-touching Mitt-moment.
(snif) Give me a moment, please. (sniff) I'm trying to squeeze out a Mitt-tear or Mitt-two.
This "Mitt-Relief" event was neither sincere nor thoughtful. Go to The American Red Cross website. FAQ: The Red Cross neither collects nor accepts donations of hard goods. It's impractical. They do the most good by actively assisting those in need. Not by getting bogged down having to collect, transport, sort and transport (again) hard goods.
For anyone who sincerely wants to support The Red Cross/Assist the thousands of Americans who are suffering in the wake of Superstorm Sandy...
Please do so in a genuine, practical and effective way: 1.) Write a check to The Red Cross. 2.) Donate blood. 3.) Text "REDCROSS" to 90999 to send a $10.00 donation.
Thank You.

Got Global Warming/Climate Change? (Hint: Think "Superstorm Sandy")
Got Global Warming/Global Climate Change? - No?
Well, O.K.. Then, how 'bout - Now?
For The Pro-Extinction (as long as it's profitable) few still clinging to what is either: A.) An utterly irrational, Or B.) A 'greed-over-green' rejection of the globally-acknowledged, decades-of-scientific-research-based FACT that is 'Human-Caused Global Warming/Climate Change' (That white-knuckled, rigor mortis-like grip of theirs is so cute!)...
I offer the undeniable, irrefutable evidence that is Hurricane Sandy (aka "The Frankenstorm") (aka "The Perfect Storm").
If you share in that particular core-belief held by Mitt Romney and his fellow Republicans about the federal government being too "nanny-like"; about large - yet vital - federal agencies such as FEMA (The Federal Emergency Management Agency) being overdue for huge budget cuts; about how the states should shoulder the majority of control over and responsibility for what happens within their borders...
... I humbly encourage you to share those beliefs with any of the Governors, Mayors and residents of the cities and states who - in the aftermath of Sandy - are facing an unknown number of days without electricity; widespread flood-damage; a small fraction of functional transportation system; downed trees; downed power-lines; wayward, damaged and/or totaled automobiles; heavily-burdened first-responders; etc. (*Reminder: Get those earthquake/emergency/disaster survival kits together - Now!) Of course, those in charge are already working out the details of a variety of plans/projects and will - hopefully - soon initiate those complex, extensive and expensive clean-ups, repairs, construction projects whilst also figuring out who - exactly - is going to foot the bills for all of the above. In addition, they must do this whilst keeping the real threat of inevitable "super-storms" yet to be in mind... spurring research and development of newly-informed, storm-ready changes to traditional - and now outdated/problematic - practices (such as relocating back-up generators from what are now recognized as flood-vulnerable basements) and all other challenges yet to face them in the wide and destructive wake of Hurricane Sandy.
*Sandy may have been the first such Super-Storm... but, she's definitely not the last.
Kill The Oil-Addiction - Now. (Before it kills us.)
Sandy Ends Campaigns. Guess Who's Final Ohio Ad Wins "The Truth Be Damned" Award? (Again.)
Hurricane/post-tropical storm Sandy (don't let the name fool you. it's still packing a punch) is currently battering vast areas of the Atlantic Coast with high winds, heavy rains, storm surges, flooding, an estimated 2-ft. of snow (in W.VA) and is guaranteed to be accompanied by numerous power-outages.
So, naturally, President Obama has numerous Presidential and Public Safety-related duties to carry-out and, therefore, has cancelled all of his remaining scheduled campaign events.
(Mitt Romney has ended his campaign, too.)
Election Day is next Tuesday (Hurray! Finally.) and in the battleground/swing-state of Ohio, both President Obama's and Mitt Romney's campaigns have released their final TV ads for the 2012 election.
Guess which campaign's ad wins the un-coveted and, yet, well deserved heading: "The Truth Be Damned."? (Hint: It's not the first time they've "won".)

Tina Fey's Response To GOP Rape/Abortion Rhetoric (and mine, too.)
OK... OK... I can't take this anymore!!!
Perhaps you've seen the recently broadcast video segment from a debate in which Senate wanna-be (and yet another rape/pregnancy-proof male) Richard Mourdock (R. IN) blathered on about his view that a pregnancy that results from a rape must be "God's Will"?
It was the last straw.
Well, it was My Last Straw.
So, I now offer my own personal rebuke - to the whack-a-mole musings of Mourdock; the GOP twits who spewed similar bull-pucky before him; the GOP twits whom have yet to spew...
"If men could get pregnant - abortion would be a sacrament!" *And, needless to say, rape a capital crime.
Whew! Glad to get that off my chest.
Now... enjoy Tina Fey's response to the latest G(onaded) O(ld) P(aleface) attack on women/women's health/women's rights:

Wake Up! Today's GOP's Goal Is "...The Talibanization Of American Policy."
What Do The Following All Have In Common:
Richard Mourdock; Mitt Romney; Paul Ryan; Todd Akin; GOP-led states and GOP Congressional Representatives?
The answer should be as obvious as the nose on your face.
Still, if it's not...
Then, you'll find it here, in the wise words of NOW President Terry O'Neil:
“It’s the creeping Talibanization of American policy. It is deeply, deeply dangerous for women.”
And, a clear and present danger leveled at every American. Especially those of us whom recognize this simple fact: All of our cherished and hard-won freedoms must be protected from every threat that aims to destroy them...
Regardless of whether the threat originates from within... or without.

Romney Disdain For Foreign Policy Risks Bush-Level Disasters
GOP Presidential Candidate Mitt "No Apologies" Romney is not only frightfully ignorant about the most urgent and pressing geopolitical issues facing America presently, but he also lacks the most basic awareness of the geographical locations of specific countries which he repeatedly refers to in his appearances. More than that... neither Romney nor his campaign have ever acknowledged or offered to correct any of these 'mistakes'. Nor do they display any negligible interest in not repeating the same ones or preventing new and easily avoidable ones (Hint: Try 'Google Maps').
The repetitiveness and consistency of their carelessness is a huge, flashing neon warning sign to all Americans that Romney and his staff lack the most basic interest in possessing or even developing the skills required to effectively - let alone successfully - carry out the utterly crucial "Commander-In-Chief" role of a President Of The United States Of America.
And, yes, candidate Romney has brought in numerous expert 'advisers' to fall back on.
F.Y.I. ~ Most of the very same 'advisers' were holding identical positions a mere four years ago - as advisers to the former and similarly foreign policy-disdainful President George W. Bush.
Hmm... Surely you all remember how spectacularly their particular brand of "expert advice" to that President turned out...
(*If anyone needs a gentle reminder and/or example: We're now in year 12 of one of the two grueling and multi-billion dollar wars President Bush started solely on the advice of these men.)
Please consider the very real economic and military implications of all of this before you cast your vote for President this year...
As painful, nauseating and terrifying as that might be.

Much Like The Truth - The Facts Are Out There. Just Don't Bother Looking In Mitt Romney's Campaign
Publicly, Mitt Romney, his wannabe-wonk and the whole Romney campaign are utterly unapologetic about their open-hostility towards the theory and practice of 'Fact-Checking'.
Especially 'Fact-Checking' done on any of their own statements/claims/accusations/political ads.
They also have a well-documented, acute aversion to Telling The Truth - whether it be about themselves or about others.
It would behoove all of us if our consumer-protecting tradition and practice of "Truth in Advertising" were to be extended so as to include politics. And with significant fines levied against the worst and repeat offenders.
Why?
Because - The Truth Matters - Even in Politics. Especially in Politics.

Romney Tells $50K/Plate Audience In FL: Pres. Campaign Would Be Easier If He Were Latino. Hey! Dude With The Boehner Fake Bake...
... Also overheard in that stellar and spectacularly stealthy "47%" video from Florida?

May I present this quick, witty video in which Sarah Silverman and Lizz Winstead discuss "people".
Or, as they're better known by Mitt Romney: “corporations” and "banks".
Fraud And Deception Raise Red Flags Just Weeks Prior To Election
The Republican Party (and conservatives, in general) find themselves on the wrong side of the demographics of this country and on the wrong side of the issues...
So - What's a bunch of excruciatingly-sore losers to do?
Whaddya think?...
They Cheat.
The Grand Ol' Party has been working overtime to develop effective ways of cheating their seat on the wrong side of reality at the state level by implementing pointless and partisan-based voter ID laws, cutting early voting - in historically Democratic counties, voter suppression, voter intimidation, voter misinformation, etc.
And, even in cases when a judge has overruled their shameful shenanigans it's been revealed that, in numerous instances, these GOP-led states still don't bother to change relevant - and now incorrect - information on their websites offering voter information, remove taxpayer-financed billboards with incorrect information or overt threats (usually placed in minority and/or poorer neighborhoods).
Such behavior- by government officials/"public servants", no less - is not only shameful, disgusting and un-American... it's participants should be actively prosecuted.

Congressman Scott DesJarlais (R.TN) Is Pro-Life*. *Except When His Adultery Results In A Pregnancy...
Republican Congressman Scott DesJarlais (TN) has been and continues to declare himself utterly pro-life and a staunch opponent of abortion*.
*Except when the pregnant woman involved is a former patient of Dr. DesJarlais with whom he had an illicit, extramarital affair, which resulted in the woman becoming pregnant and when her making the choice to have the baby would threaten Congressman DesJarlais's marriage and endanger the likelihood of his being able to hold onto his Congressional seat.
Believe it or not, Congressman DesJarlais recorded a telephone conversation with the "other woman" in which he encouraged her to terminate the pregnancy.
*What's really surprising is that this Republican Congressman's illicit affair wasn't with another man...

GOP Job Creators: "Vote For Romney... Or You're Fired."
Announcement made by various Republican-Supporting 'Job Creators' to their employees: "Vote For Romney - Or You're Fired."
From Murray Energy (Ohio) to employees:
"Dear Employee: We have invested our full support behind Mitt Romney for President. And, as your employer, we think that you should vote for him, too... because, if Barack Obama gets re-elected and my corporate and/or personal income taxes get increased, I'll have no choice but to start firing employees." (sic)
I kid you not. This is for real.
In another case, it was discovered that supervisory workers employed at Suarez (Ohio) each "happened" to donate anywhere from $5,000 (individuals) up to $20,000 (couples) to either Josh Mandel's (R. OH, trying to unseat Sherrod Brown) or Jim Renacci's (R.OH) campaigns and they refused to talk about it. Note: These aren't wealthy people.
Thankfully, the FBI is investigating.
And - under pressure - the two candidates returned the money.

Hardball: McCaskill Fights For Missouri And Her Senate Seat
Knowledge IS Power. Actions Do Speak Louder Than Words.
With these thoughts in mind, I offer the following for your thoughtful consideration:
The Congressional voting record of one Rep. Todd "legitimate rape" Akin (R. MO):
1.) Akin voted *Against* the child nutrition program.
2.) Akin voted *Against* creating a national sex-offender registry.
3.) Akin voted *Against* creating The Center For Missing And Exploited Children.
I mention these facts as evidence that - as Akin's own words have revealed - not only is he unapologetic and militantly-ignorant regarding topics such as: human biology; human reproduction and the definition of (let alone care about/believe in the trauma, violation and devastation of) "rape". A review of his Congressional voting record indicates he clearly has a congenital callousness regarding high-priority issues such as the health, well-being and safety of America's children.
F.Y.I. All of those GOP politicians and groups that were (at the least) calling for him to withdraw from the race or (at the most) hinting about lynching the man... are now back to supporting his attempt to take Senator Claire McCaskill's (D. MO) seat. (Yuck!)

Mike Rowe's (From The Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs") Dirtiest Job, Ever!
Mike Rowe, the congenial host of The Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs", has now performed his absolute Dirtiest Job, ever...
Mike stood on the stage with GOP Presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, in Ohio and talked to the working-class audience about the great value of the millions of working-class people across our nation; about providing better job-training/skill-training and about providing desperately-needed job opportunities.
Now, Rowe didn't come out and endorse Romney word-for-word, per-se.
But, Mike did say all the sorts of things that elitist, multimillionaire, "Let Detroit die..." Mitt Romney has repeatedly proven himself to be physically-incapable of saying... Let alone saying in anything resembling a sincere and believable fashion.
Funny thing is... Everything Mike spoke about, President Barack Obama has already spoken of, passionately, countless times.
Like when the President was presenting his Jobs Bills before Congress and asking for their swift approval.
Yet, each and every time, Congressional Republicans ganged up and - intentionally - blocked them from being passed into Law.
*What ever happened to "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!", Republicans? Oh? Whaddya mean that you, "... only meant you'd work for more "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!" if and when Obama was no longer President?... Gee, What A**holes!)
P.S. ~ The GOP members of Congress also Killed - they did not delay nor filibuster - but K-I-L-L-E-D (as in It's D-E-A-D) the one recent Veterans' Jobs Bill that was specifically written to assist America's men and women who were returning from war to get jobs once they were home.
Shame on you, Mike Rowe.
And, now, more than ever... Shame on You, Congressional Republicans!

Secret (and Independently Verified) Video Reveals The Real Mitt Romney. Yikes!
Mitt Romney (responding to a question from the audience):
"There are 47% of people who will vote for the President... who are dependent upon government... who believe they are victims and that government has a responsibility to care for them... who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it... And that's an entitlement..."
The above is an excerpt from a video recently obtained by Mother Jones Magazine.
The words came directly from the mouth of Mitt Romney.
The video and its contents have been independently confirmed and verified as, indeed, being GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney speaking candidly at one of his exclusive, private fundraising functions.
Mitt Romney: I'm happy to say, "You, sir, are in serious T-R-O-U-B-L-E...".

Huge Victories Against GOP-Led Voter Suppression In Texas, Florida, Ohio
Did You Know...?
Over this past year, Republican-controlled legislatures of several key/swing states passed sweeping changes to how voting/voting registration is carried out in those states and which would have stripped untold thousands of Americans of their right to vote or to have their vote counted in the 2012 Presidential election.
Pretending to be patriotic, they all claimed said changes were an absolute necessity "to prevent voter fraud" in November. Sounds noble enough, right?
Only until you learn one simple fact: Actual cases of voter fraud are extremely rare.
Renders their claims unfounded and their sweeping changes utterly unnecessary. End of story, right?
No. Not if you happen to be a sane, rational and ethical person who looks at which groups of Americans' right to vote this suddenly urgent legislation would take away...
The answer is: Hundreds of thousands of Americans. And, more specifically: A disproportionate number of whom are African-American. And, all of whom were historically known to vote Democrat.
Got Actual Voter Fraud? As I said, "No." It just doesn't happen.
Got Several Cases Of Electoral Fraud Carried Out By GOP Legislatures/Leaders/Governors? Hells, yes!
Thankfully, several non-partisan, impartial Federal courts have seen clear through the flag-waving of these Republicans to the utterly unconscionable treachery behind their sweeping changes, slamming their gavels down on the GOP-led incidents of blatant voter suppression in Texas, Florida and Ohio.
Hallelujuah!
*And, still... Remain vigilant, friends.
(From: The Ed Show: Huge Victory Against Voter Suppression)
Over this past year, Republican-controlled legislatures of several key/swing states passed sweeping changes to how voting/voting registration is carried out in those states and which would have stripped untold thousands of Americans of their right to vote or to have their vote counted in the 2012 Presidential election.
Pretending to be patriotic, they all claimed said changes were an absolute necessity "to prevent voter fraud" in November. Sounds noble enough, right?

RNC 2012 101: Government Exists To Protect The Individual Liberties Of Everyone Without A Uterus.
The GOP 2012 Platform was formally adopted yesterday. One of its planks: A Human Life Amendment to the Constitution ("Personhood") with no exceptions for rape, incest or the life of the mother.
In the wake of the furor over Representative Todd Akins outrageous remarks about some magical pregnancy-prevention process which occurs during a rape, Mitt Romney now claims that he rejects the "no exceptions" part of the GOP anti-abortion platform.
When Samantha Bee (The Daily Show) asked numerous GOP conventioneers for their responses to Mitt's choice to 'go rogue' and reject the Party's absolute zero abortion plank, some of the most popular responses were:
"We live in America... A free society."; "It's up to every human being to decide what's best for them."; "Who are we to tell someone how they should act?"; "It's hard to make that decision unless you're the one in that situation."; "It's not for me to judge." and...
"Government's purpose is to protect your individual liberties." *
* Except and Unless * that 'individual liberty' is the one which guarantees each and every American woman's right to choose what happens to her own body.
Enjoy this clip from last night's The Daily Show With Jon Stewart (with TDS Correspondent Samantha Bee reporting from the RNC in Tampa, FL.):

Experts: "Non-Human Consciousness Exists!" (Well, Duh!)
Have you ever considered the consciousness - or unconsciousness - of your dog?
Last month, 25 of the world's leading scientists gathered together with the express purpose of examining and discussing a variety of accumulated scientific evidence on the subject of animal consciousness and they reached a unanimous decision:
"Animals - specifically mammals and birds - are, in fact, conscious beings."
While some of you may be inclined towards filing this remarkable and truly newsworthy event under the category of "Believe It Or Not"... Not yours truly.
Despite having grown up in a world which had all-too eagerly swallowed/followed/clung to the long-standing tradition/practice of wantonly using/abusing non-human Earthlings however they wanted (with or without a reason)... It wasn't long after achieving awareness of my own consciousness that I reached a conclusion on this very topic.
And - for me - from that moment right on up to this day... this (now scientifically-proven/accepted) "discovery" was a foregone conclusion.
And, as such, I'd filed it under the undeniably apropos category of "Well, Duh!".
Check out the story/discovery and the owners of the brilliant minds who were involved - here:

RNC Ostracizes Todd Akin For His Extremist Views (Which are identical to the RNC's)
Reporter: "Should it be legal for a woman to get an abortion if she's been raped?"
Paul Ryan: "I'm very proud of my pro-life record and I've always adopted the position that the method of conception doesn't change the definition of life."
In other words, regarding the situation in which a rape survivor becomes pregnant, Republican VP nominee Paul Ryan's life-long, doggedly-pursued position is utterly identical to that of Sharon Engle ("If life gives you a lemon (you become pregnant after being raped) then you should make lemonade.") and it's identical to that of the strategically-scapegoated, infamous and utterly clueless Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO).
Don't be fooled by Mr. Ryan's "Gee, shucks. Y'all have nothing to fear. I'm not the one who is running for President. Mitt Romney is."
That may be true, but Paul Ryan is no innocuous bystander/spectator/passer-by. He's running for Vice President. And, Vice President is a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
*Remember Sarah Palin's turn as GOP VP nominee in 2008? (Of course you do.) And, do you remember the moment when that particularly gut-wrenching, nightmare-inducing thought finally hit you that... IF John McCain were elected President... And, IF he were to die suddenly or become incapacitated... THEN... (OMFG!) Sarah Palin would take his place as... President.
It's deja vu again with Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
One shudders to think.

21st Century Back-Alley Abortions: Dangerous Pharmaceuticals. Gee Thanks, Texas!
Under extremist, right-wing (nut) Republican control, Texas gutted funding to family-planning services statewide - an action which affects tens of thousands of American women.
Being Texas, of course they didn't stop there. They also passed a law which forces women seeking termination of a pregnancy to undergo medically-unnecessary ultrasound procedures. (What's the big deal. Just close your eyes, right?)
So... Have the draconian actions of the (*mostly male) Texas GOP lawmakers brought an end to abortion?
No. Of course not!
Result: The 21st Century's coat-hanger/back-alley abortions comes in the form of a pharmaceutical drug. Readily available from unregulated pharmacies in Mexico. Without a prescription or instructions, thank you very much.
Can you say "massive hemorrhaging", boys and girls?
Wow! This is much better than undergoing a legal, medical procedure performed by a licensed physician in a sterile, well-equipped, staffed hospital room.
Gee... Thanks, Texas!

Rage Against The Machine Rages Against Paul Ryan
As a lifelong fan of the band "Rage Against The Machine", my jaw literally dropped when I learned that GOP Veep nominee Paul Ryan says he, too, is a fan of the band.
And, in an op-ed piece for Rolling Stone Magazine, Rage front-man Tom Morello explains perfectly why - for those of us whom love Rage - this revelation elicits considerable surprise and utter disgust...

Women's Rights Advocates Sock-It To Paul Ryan (*With Humor)
From promoting federally-forced ultrasounds to pushing for federal personhood for zygotes, Mitt Romney's VP Nominee Paul Ryan's (R-WI) tireless personal contributions to the Republican Party's War Against Women hasn't gone unnoticed by women's rights advocates armed with both superb senses of humor and internet connections...

Boehner Exhorts For "Jobs!" From Pulpit. House GOP Pushes For... You Guessed It: "Abortion"
House Speaker (and textbook failure) John Boehner ranted and railed during a closed House GOP-members only meeting on Thursday about (you guessed it): "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!", during which he exhorted that creating jobs for out-of-work Americans is every Congressional Republicans' #1 Priority. He told his minions that they must pass job-creating bills/legislation.
So (of course), immediately following Boehner's fiery, four-letter-word-sprinkled "We are all about Jobs!" sermon, those same-House Republicans hurriedly-lollygagged back to work so that they could put their collective laser-focus on what always has been and still is every House Republican's 1st Order Of Business: "Banning Abortion".
(*If you guessed "Jobs" - :(- you haven't been paying attention.)
Yep, immediately after Boehner's big (and-not-so-secret) secret "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!, Now!" meeting - House Republicans' unanimous First Order Of Business was (drum roll. please)...
Fast-tracking and voting (unsuccessfully) on yet another Republican-sponsored bill ban a woman's right to reproductive choice/abortion.
*If you guessed "abortion", you get a *Star*!
(Hurray, I got a *Star*!)
... like I said, "Textbook Failure".

Montana On The Verge Of Saving US Democracy From SCOTUS' "Citizens' United" Decision
Still Got Hope...
There's been a modern-day David Vs Goliath legal battle going on in the Great State of Montana.
It's an inspirational example of one American who's standing-up to the big, bad, well-financed bully... and he's making a difference.
Not only that ~ this American's courtroom-wrangling has led to the appearance of a number brilliant rays of Hope appearing out yonder in the vast, toxic, noxious wasteland that is unfettered, untraceable corporate political-influence and corruption which has been like a festering abscess on our democratic political process since the SCOTUS's much-reviled "citizens' united" decision.

NAACP Votes To Support Marriage Equality / Ben Jealous NAACP President on TRMS
The national board of our nation's oldest civil rights organization, the NAACP, recently voted on whether or not the organization would come out (no pun intended) officially in support of marriage equality.
The results: 62 In Favor Of Supporting Marriage Equality.
And, 2... Er, not so much. (Insert sounds of cheering, here.)
Reporting on the announcement, Rachel Maddow said, "This is kinda a big deal.".
(And, that's kinda an understatement.)

Chris Rock, Jay-Z On Marriage Equality: "It's the right thing to do."
During his recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Chris Rock expressed his support for President Obama's recent declaration on marriage equality: "It shows you how screwed up the world is. A man says, 'Hey, I think gay people should be treated as everyone else.'... CONTROVERSY!". Then, a couple days later...
Hip-Hop legend JayZ (Mr. Beyonce Knowles) said, "You love who you love... It's no different than discriminating against Blacks. It (marriage equality)'s the right thing to do... whether it costs 'em votes or not. It's about people. I think it's the right thing to do ~ as a human being."
(*Insert deafening roar and thunderous applause signaling majority approval - here.)

On The Road With Mitt: Fiction vs Fact
On The Road With Mitt Romney and his Campaign (*to Fail) Trail:
He won't talk about his super anti-gayness; or his intentions to limit/prohibit access to contraception; or about ending American women's Constitutionally-Protected Freedom Of Choice; or any other Issues O' The Day. What is Mitt miffed about? Over-regulation. Mitt's claim is that President Obama has doubled the number of Federal regulations/regulators and that hurts our economy/business. That's it. That's the centerpiece of Mitt's campaign.
Of course there are countless things to take issue with with a candidate who refuses to discuss the many topical issues of the day. The bigger problem for Mitt is: The single issue he repeatedly campaigns on is just another lie. Official documentation shows that G.W. Bush initiated more regulations than President Obama.
In other words: President Obama has reduced regulations. Still, Mitt keeps claiming the opposite. It's a Lie.
Mr. Romney: Please repeat after me: "Repeating a Lie Doesn't Make It True." "Repeating a Lie Doesn't Make It True." "Repeating a Lie Doesn't Make It True". ....

"Jobs? What Jobs?" GOP States Pushing Lady Parts Legislation. (Video From The Rachel Maddow Show)
"First, they came for women's health-care in Texas.
But, I didn't speak out. I didn't protest. Why should I? I don't live in Texas, therefore what they do in Texas doesn't affect me - not personally.
Then, they came for women's health care in Georgia.
But, I didn't speak out. I didn't protest. Why should I? I don't live in Georgia and what they do in Georgia doesn't affect me.
Then, they came for women's health care in South Dakota... in Indiana... in New Jersey...
And again, I simply did nothing, because I don't live in those states and nothing they do in them affects me.
And then, they came for women's health-care in Pennsylvania - where the (male) Governor (R) told the women of that state to: "Just close your eyes".
But, I didn't speak out. I didn't protest. Why should I? I don't live in Texas, therefore what they do in Texas doesn't affect me - not personally.

Despite my overwhelming desire to give the Gov. a (steel-toed boot) kick to the groin... I did nothing.
Why should I? I don't live in Pennsylvania. What they do in Pennsylvania doesn't affect me.
Then, they came for women's health-care in Louisiana.
And again, I did nothing. I don't live in Louisiana. So, whatever they're doing in Louisiana doesn't affect me.
In each of these instances, I took no action.
Sure, I may have thought, "Wow! That really sucks for the women who live there.".
Sure, I may have thought, "Wow! That really sucks for the women who live there.".
I definitely felt for them...
But, beyond that, I did nothing.
I kept telling myself that it simply wasn't my problem.
I told myself that (thankfully) I don't live in those states, so whatever back-a**wards things they were doing in them just didn't affect me - not personally.
Even now, their festering march continues...
Today... tomorrow... next week... next month...
They keep coming for women's health-care...
And now? I'm beginning to worry."
