Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Snowden, Security & Surveillance (video)

One of the ideas that America was founded upon/was famous for was that we had a system of Checks and Balances. That system was created to insure that no government body acquired too much power.  Everyone had to answer to someone.

But, in recent years, something has gone horribly wrong with America
.  And proof is found in what has happened to her founding ideas.

For Example: There are scant few government checks on what America’s sweeping surveillance programs are allowed to do.  And, there is nothing even remotely resembling balance.

John Oliver sits down with Edward Snowden to discuss the NSA, the balance between privacy and security, and dick-pics.

8 Things You Wouldn't Think Are Spying on You, but Are | The Daily Sheeple

Do you think that surveillance at the mall is only aimed at would-be shoplifters?

Do you think that it's only surveillance cameras that are scanning the shoppers?

Think Again...

"Although shopper surveillance devices hidden in a mannequin’s eyes are not viewed as a privacy violation by many, some retailers are upping the ante and have begun tracking customers via information from their cell phones.

Many see this as an invasion of privacy.

But retailers like Nordstrom, who use WiFi signals from customers’ cell phones to track shopping habits, argue that it is a great way to learn about customer habits and how they can improve the services offered in the retail setting."

(*Tip: Take the battery out of your phone whilst at the mall, if you don't want to be tracked/stalked in this way.)

GMO Labeling: Will Congress Keep Us in the DARK? | The Daily Sheeple

We Are What We Eat, Right? (Yes!)

Therefore, It's Imperative That We Know What We Are Eating.
(This issue is of serious/potentially life-threatening concern for those with food sensitivities/allergies)

GMO-Tainted Food Producers Don't Want Labeling Now.
(Translation: Voluntary-Labeling Is A Joke... A Bad One.)

"Polls have shown time and again that the overwhelming majority of Americans want GMO labeling on food.

Despite that, two Congressmen – who are supposed to represent the people – want to make the labeling of genetically modified foods voluntary.

Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) and co-sponsor Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) introduced their deceptively-titled “Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015″ bill last week.

It would create a voluntary federal labeling standard while preventing states from passing their own mandatory labeling laws for GMO foods.

The bill has been aptly nicknamed the Denying Americans the Right-to-Know (DARK) Act by critics.

If this sounds familiar, perhaps that is because this isn’t Pompeo’s first attempt at this kind of legislation."

FBI Uncovers Another of Its Own Plots. Senator Feinstein's Response: Censor the Internet! | The Daily Sheeple

Look Who's Wagging The Dog... Yet Again:

"As you may - or may not - have already heard, on Thursday, the FBI “uncovered” yet another of its own terrorist plots, the latest in a very long line of “terrorist plots” the FBI has “uncovered” — in which the details always show that it was an undercover FBI “informant” (often doing this to get off leniently for some other issue), who more or less goads hapless, naive people, into a “plot”  that had no real chance of ever happening.

This appears to be the same sort of thing."
