We Have No Reason to Believe 5G Is Safe...

Beware of 5G, Peeps.

5G (for the 1st time) employs millimeter waves as well as microwaves.

Do you remember when the cell phone industry was declaring cell phones were absolutely harmless (because they were making $$$ hand-over-fist)?

Now... All cell phone manufacturers advise customers to NOT keep their cell phones in their pockets/on their person due to the increased risk of cellular damage/cancer.

(A "no-brainer" to me as the technology is microwave-based. i.e. Close proximity to cell phone boosters causes my skin to feel like I'm under an intense heat lamp)

From Scientific American: "... Short-term exposure (to 5G) can have adverse physiological effects in the peripheral nervous system; immune system and cardiovascular system. The research suggests that long-term exposure may pose health risks to the skin (e.g., melanoma), the eyes (e.g., ocular melanoma) and the testes (e.g., sterility)."

So, contrary to widely-held, yet, untested belief...

In 2018, Trump Disbanded the NSC Team Focused Solely on Global Health Security...

Back in May of 2018, the Trump Administration pushed out the White House official "responsible for leading the U.S. response in the event of a deadly pandemic...", Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer from the National Security Council.  Ziemer was not alone.  The global health security team overseen by him was also disbanded.

The Trump Administration called it a "reorganization".  But, none of these extremely important positions were ever re-staffed.

Around that time, "... Luciana Borio, director of medical and biodefense preparedness at the NSC (National Security Council), spoke at a symposium at Emory University to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1918 influenza pandemic. That event killed an estimated 50 million to 100 million people worldwide:

“The threat of pandemic flu is the number one health security concern,” she told the audience.  “Are we ready to respond?  I fear the answer is no.”"

Not surprisingly, Director Borio was correct.

Think of the federal government as an octopus.  It has numerous tentacles (agencies/departments).  Each tentacle functions independently of the others, but all of them are working for the common good.

By removing Adm. Ziemer and disbanding his team, the Trump administration completely and abruptly amputated the tentacle that that was in charge of monitoring, identifying, responding to, and preventing the outbreak of global pandemics.

This was a National Security level team.

Disbanding it was myopic, irresponsible, and put national security and public health under immediate threat.

The global COVID-19 pandemic sweeping across the world, spreading across the USA, and touching virtually every American's life are the fatal fruits of the Trump Administration's labors.

Epidemiologists and other medical experts saw this situation coming.  They warned the Trump administration, repeatedly.  Their words fell on deaf ears, repeatedly.

And, just like Nero in Rome, Trump fiddled while America burned.

Top White House official in charge of pandemic response exits abruptly

Shutdown Turmoil In Our National Parks: Bears Aren’t The Only Ones Who Sh*t In The Woods...

America’s greatest national treasures - our priceless and irreplaceable national parks and (at one time) protected lands - have remained open during the current Trump government shutdown -  something this administration intentionally chose to do, and
which previous administrations did not do out of concern for public safety and for the protection of our precious national parks.

Sometimes, the best way to get a clearer understanding of a situation is to look at it from the perspective of an outside, third-party, observer...  Observers such as the journalists who contributed to this article (see Guardian UK link, below), who deftly explain the significance of and the ramifications of that decision.

Enjoy... er, well... no, perhaps not that.

Expand your worldview a wee bit, then?

Oh, and... Happy New Year!!!*

An Open Letter To The EPA Re: Cellphone Boosters, RF Radiation and Burning Skin, Oh My!

An Open Letter/Email To The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Re: Cellphone Boosters, RF Radiation and Burning Skin (Oh My!):

"Dear EPA:

I am concerned about a recent experience I had while sitting in a public courtyard at a local open-air shopping mall.  I was sitting at a table with a friend and suddenly realized that I felt a focused heat on my left shoulder and upper arm.  Initially, I assumed that I had, inadvertently, sat too close to a nearby restaurant's patio heat-lamp.  But, when I got up to leave, I turned to look for the lamp and there was no heat-lamp... in fact, there was only an exterior, wall-mounted, cellphone booster antenna nearby.  It was placed about 8-ft. above the ground.  But, I definitely felt it heating my skin and deeper.  Like I said, I had thought it was a heat-lamp before I turned around.

I am concerned because, according to your own website, "At very high levels, RF energy is dangerous.", but the non-ionizing radiation from wireless technology that is capable of heating the body's tissues rapidly is supposed to be "... found only near certain equipment, such as powerful long-distance transmitters." and you go on to say that, although cellphone and wireless networks emit RF radiation, it's "not at levels that cause significant heating."

My recent experience definitely refutes these statements and I am concerned, not only for my own, but also for the public's safety.  Especially if there's no regulation of or laws regarding the amount of RF radiation that is being emitted from these widely-used, human-adjacent devices.

Please let me know - including the EPA - to whom and at what agency should I report this?

Thank you!

San Francisco, California

(From: "About Non-Ionizing Radiation From Wireless Technology)
... At very high levels, RF energy is dangerous. It can heat the body's tissues rapidly. However, such high levels are found only near certain equipment, such as powerful long-distance transmitters. Cellphones and wireless networks produce RF, but not at levels that cause significant heating. In addition, RF energy decreases quickly over distance. At ground level, exposure to RF from sources like cellphone towers is usually very low.""

An Open Email To T.J. Maxx Re: Selling Products Known To Cause Cancer, Birth Defects, Reproductive Harm...

(An Open Email To Retailer T.J. Maxx Re:
Selling Products Known To Cause Cancer, Birth Defects and/or Reproductive Harm:)

Dear T.J. Maxx:

First, let me say this: "I Love Shopping at T.J. Maxx!".

That said, I'd also like to add:

"WHY does T.J. Maxx sell any products that include the following warning:

"WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm."?

Er, Hello?  If something's 'known to cause cancer AND birth defects OR other reproductive harm' in the State of California, you can bank on the fact that it's going to cause those same life-threatening health risks in the other 49 states.

So, I must ask you: WHY are you stocking them on T.J. Maxx's shelves and on the T.J. Maxx website?

There are more than enough items available that do not contain potentially lethal chemicals in them to fill those places.

Please Note: Including the Prop. 65 Warning does NOT relieve T.J. Maxx's of any responsibility if those items acknowledged to be toxic are purchased from T.J. Maxx and then, God forbid, cause cancer, birth defects and/or other reproductive harm in your customers.

Especially, if those poor souls don't live in California and, therefore, aren't even offered the warning about the potentially life-threatening dangers contained within them.

For Example: I was going to buy a pair of Betsey Johnson sunglasses from the T.J. Maxx website (see image above) - until I (thankfully) saw that warning. The thought that - had I not seen or been presented with that warning - I'd have bought the sunglasses and worn them on my face is horrifying!

(*Please know that I'm not excusing Betsey Johnson, nor whomever is in charge of licensing her name, nor any other company or celebrity who allows these sorts of (unnecessarily) toxic products to be produced in their names... and purely for additional profit.)

To me, this all comes down to taking Personal Responsibility for your personal and business decisions/actions as well as for the good (or the harm) that you cause to other people, living things and/or to the World because of them.

I look forward to hearing from you and I'm sincerely interested in hearing your honest response to my inquiry..

Thank you very much!

Darth Obama Signs The 'Dark Act': Are YOU Pro-GMO? Or Pro- RIGHT TO KNOW?

ICYMI:  President Barack Obama just signed the 'DARK ACT' into federal aw.

This law now preempts (The Great State Of) Vermont's hard-fought and hard-won (Hello? They beat Monsanto!) mandatory labeling of GMOs and takes away - from Every Single American - our Basic Human Right-To-Know what is and what is not in our food supply and in our groceries.
Monsanto (You bastards!) and the GMA (Grocery Manufacrturers A**hole-ciation) spent around $400 Million over the last four years to make this happen.
We've been fighting against it.  We are continuing to fight against it.  And, we will not surrender.

I've joined an organization that's continuing to Fight The Good Fight. We're Buy-cotting Monsanto (and all of it's subsidiaries) and every single grocery manufacturer who was involved in this Monsanto-made dastardly dietary disaster... and I'm inviting/urging all of YOU to join me!
Here's what I said when asked why I joined:
"I'm absolutely sickened and hugely pissed-off that President Obama stood up and, then, folded like a spineless piece of paper and signed the 'Dark Act' into law.
I'd expect something like that from any corporate-crony Republican, but I, honestly, hadn't expected it from Obama.

After all, back in 2007, he swore that he'd fight for Americans' Right-To-Know about GMOs!
But, by turning turn-coat and signing this bill, President Obama has consciously and intentionally betrayed all Americans - every single man, woman and child - and has shown us all who he's really working for - and ("Hello?!) it isn't for 'The Common Good'!
Shame on YOU, Mr. President!
What good is a national healthcare system, if 'We, The People' are being intentionally, unwittingly, involuntarily and systematically-poisoned by a GMO-tainted food supply? (Rhetorical Question.)

By signing this bill into federal law, President Obama has - All By His Lonesome - rendered Obamacare moot (after a big slobbering, lobbying push from Monsanto & the GMA**holes).
What makes this betrayal especially excruciating is that there can be no doubt, whatsoever, that President Obama has done this to all Americans - All Of US - and has done so exclusively to benefit a greasy group of pathologically-greedy, ethically-stunted and morally-bankrupt corporations and their shareholders.
His actions make me want to throw-up ( ...where the hell's a Monsanto shareholder when you need one?).
Monsanto must be Terminated. GMOs must be GM-NOs. The Dark Act must be destroyed. And, all of those who were involved in creating the 'Dark Act', supporting it, lobbying for it and who are - only very temporarily - celebrating it must be exposed, publicly-humiliated, shunned and/or kicked out of political office, for good.
Thank you."
As you can see, I'm a wee bit perturbed by this... and understandably so, I think.

And, I sincerely hope YOU are perturbed, too!

Open Email To Whole Foods Market / Caveat Emptor: Read The Fine Print!

Hello Whole Foods Market:

I am a loyal Whole Foods Market customer in San Francisco, California.

I'm contacting you about "Product Standards" because I found something disturbing buried in the fine print on the label of a sample of a dietary supplement product that you carry in (at least some of) your stores:

Product: Irwin Naturals "Brain Awake" Liquid Soft Gels.

On the tri-fold label, at the bottom of the "Supplement Facts", is the following:

"WARNING (State Of California Prop 65) This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."

Now, as I received this sample from a Whole Foods Market Store in California and as Whole Foods Market proudly makes the claim of: "America's Healthiest Grocery Store", I found this item particularly disturbing.

Not to mention the fact that I have excellent eyesight and don't require/wear glasses or contacts.  Still, there's a variety of small-sized fonts on the label, but this CA Prop 65 Warning is in the smallest one of them all.  Therefore, even I couldn't have read that line without the use of a magnifying glass.

Considering how many people wear glasses, I'm quite sure the vast majority of Whole Foods Market customers who may have picked up the same Brain Awake sample as I did would be unable to read the fine print - including this warning - and would, undoubtedly, ingest the gel caps because they were from Whole Foods Market and, well, WFM wouldn't offer anything that might be harmful to a woman, her unborn child or her reproductive system, would they?

Fortunately, I've paid close attention to health/diet/product/supplement news and I've done enough research so that I know better than to trust the FDA's approval or any product manufacturer's well-thought out label at face value.  Health-conscious individuals must be their own best advocates, read the labels of everything and know what ingredients are as well as their safety/efficacy (or lack thereof).

There's a serious problem, though,. when the print on a label is so tiny as to require the use of a magnifying glass to read it.

And, there's an enormous problem when a grocery store that claims to be "America's Healthiest" is offering products with a CA Prop 65 Warning buried in the tiny print of that label which warns of "... birth defects and other reproductive harm"... but no one can be - conceivably - expected to be able to read it.

Do you know if there are other products on your shelves with the same (or similar) warning(s)?  How many of them are in such tiny-sized letters as to be, virtually, illegible?  If there are, how many are there?  Why would WFM agree to sell such products, especially in California?

At the very least, shouldn't WFM have a large, easy-to-read sign displayed in its Supplement Departments to inform WFM customers that some of the dietary supplement products WFM offers for purchase may contain ingredients known to the State of California to cause BIRTH DEFECTS or OTHER REPRODUCTIVE HARM?!

I see pregnant women shopping in WFM every day.  So, reading this warning on one of your products - but only with the aid of a magnifying glass - bothers me.  I sincerely hope it bothers you., too.  Are you going to do anything about this?

Please respond ASAP.  I look forward to hearing from you.  Thank you.

A Conservative State - Utah - Solved Chronic Homelessness And Saved Millions!

Hey, California Governor Jerry Brown!!!

LOOK AT THIS:

"“If you want to end homelessness, you put people in housing,” Walker said in an interview. “This is relatively simple.”"

"... what has been perhaps the nation’s most successful — and radical — program to end chronic homelessness.

Now, more than a decade later, chronic homelessness in one of the nation’s most conservative states may soon end.  And all of it is thanks to a program that at first seems stripped from the bleeding-heart manual.

In 2005, Utah had nearly 1,932 chronically homeless.
By 2014, that number had dropped 72 percent to 539. Today, explained Gordon Walker, the director of the state Housing and Community Development Division, the state is “approaching a functional zero.”

GMO Labeling: Will Congress Keep Us in the DARK? | The Daily Sheeple

We Are What We Eat, Right? (Yes!)

Therefore, It's Imperative That We Know What We Are Eating.
(This issue is of serious/potentially life-threatening concern for those with food sensitivities/allergies)

GMO-Tainted Food Producers Don't Want Labeling Now.
(Translation: Voluntary-Labeling Is A Joke... A Bad One.)

"Polls have shown time and again that the overwhelming majority of Americans want GMO labeling on food.

Despite that, two Congressmen – who are supposed to represent the people – want to make the labeling of genetically modified foods voluntary.

Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) and co-sponsor Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) introduced their deceptively-titled “Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015″ bill last week.

It would create a voluntary federal labeling standard while preventing states from passing their own mandatory labeling laws for GMO foods.

The bill has been aptly nicknamed the Denying Americans the Right-to-Know (DARK) Act by critics.

If this sounds familiar, perhaps that is because this isn’t Pompeo’s first attempt at this kind of legislation."

Consequences Of Increased Global Meat Consumption On The Environment | Stanford Woods Institute

"'People aren't going to stop eating meat,' said Harold A. Mooney, professor of biology and a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment at Stanford."

I disagree. People just need to be better informed in order to, hopefully, make wiser decisions:

The unfortunate animals raised on overcrowded industrial factory-feedlots are far from the picture of health: They spend their lives standing in their own filth; they're force-fed grains (GMO corn?), despite being evolutionarily-designed to consume/digest grasses; unhealthy diet = unhealthy animal, so, they're subjected to massive injections of antibiotics; the ranchers need to move them from the farm to the rendering plant ASAP, so, they get injected with GMO growth-hormones to fatten them up faster. (Note to self:  Look up if any of that GMO pharma-crap ends up in the meat...  Oh, never mind.  I'm a vegetarian.)

Cattle-raising is massively devastating to our environment, too.  Most grain production is for feeding all those cattle.  All those acres of antibiotic/hormone-laced manure have got to be bad for any ground-water or nearby bodies of water.  Cattle burp and pass gas every few minutes: that's a huge amount of unnecessary, damaging methane going into the atmosphere.

Wow.  With the collective toxicity of cattle, cars and people...  Humanity might be doomed.

Or, they can begin making smarter, informed choices.

Here's an interesting article on reducing some of the harmful impact of the beef industry:

We Only Have Your 'Asbestos' Interests In Mind, Eh?

"We Only Have Your 'Asbestos' Interests In Mind, Eh?..."

You might find this shocking, if you still live under the delusion that Canadians are harmless:

Asbestos, Quebec - a blue-collar Canadian mining town - is proudly selling 400,000 tons of chrysotile fiber (asbestos) a year to India.  Not only that, they are also actively promoting greater use of the slow-hacking-death-inducing stuff elsewhere... Specifically targeting those places, like India, where its use has not (yet) been banned despite being known to cause mesothelioma (lung cancer) - killing 100,000 people each year.

The more cynical among us might say, "Well, that's one way to reduce the world's unsustainable (over)population.".

And although that's true, personally, I consider doing such business - whilst, all the while, knowing of the painful, slow deaths that will come as a result - is wrong.

If any for-profit business wants to beat the rush and be among the first to promote the undeniably Enlightened goal of humanity maintaining a sustainable human population...

Human beings actively promote and enforce population control of every other prolific and not-so-prolific species... So why won't they actively control their own resource-decimating numbers?

... Then, produce and promote condoms and birth control... Not chrysotile or other carcinogens.

Peace,
L.

If "Milk Does A Body Good" Then Watercress Does A Body Supercalifragilisticexpi...(Oh, you know the rest)

I just read something Amazing about... Watercress!

We've all heard the now-ubiquitous catchphrase spoken at the end of milk commercials...

"Milk... It Does A Body Good!"

I have long had and continue to have nagging doubts as to the veracity of that claim.

And - for the sake of full-disclosure - You should know that I voluntarily swore off all commercial milk and dairy products at least a decade ago... for humanitarian, environmental and health reasons.
(I've included some of these below the Watercress info.)

Regarding that "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" item in the title...

Looking for a food item that will provide a significant source of calcium and other nutrients?

Then, forget the cow's milk and head to the produce aisle.

You'll find a much better and healthier source of calcium in something that the cows probably wish they could eat... Watercress!

"Not only is watercress extremely nutritious, it's about as close as you can get to a calorie-free food. Calorie for calorie, it provides four times the calcium of 2 percent milk. Ounce for ounce, it offers as much vitamin C as an orange and more iron than spinach. It's packed with vitamin A and has lots of vitamin K, along with multiple antioxidant carotenoids and protective phytochemicals.

The nutrients in watercress protect against cancer and macular degeneration, help build the immune system, and support bone health. The iron helps red blood cells carry oxygen to your body's tissues for energy. The phytochemicals in watercress battle cancer in three ways: killing cancer cells, blocking carcinogens, and protecting healthy cells from carcinogens. They've also been shown to help prevent lung and esophageal cancer and can help lower your risk for other cancers."

You can cook it, but watercress is better for you when you eat it raw. Tuck it into a sandwich in place of lettuce. Toss it with your favorite vegetables and eat it in a salad. Watercress is great in pesto. Or, add some to your favorite smoothie.
(Source: health.msn.com.)

And here - if you're interested - are some of the reasons why my body and I are perfectly happy, healthy and do just fine (thank you) without cow's milk:

1.) The Bottom Line: In humans, a mother's milk is produced for the sole purpose of providing their infant offspring the best nourishment.

This is also true of cow's milk: it is meant to be consumed only by their offspring - calves.

Other than human beings, no other mammal continues to drink it's mother's milk - let alone another mammal's mother's milk - into adulthood.

2.) Commercial dairy farming practices are, in both my opinion and that of millions of others, cruel and inhumane. They also go completely against the natural biological evolution of the animals.

* Cows are grazing animals and ruminants, having evolved over millions of years to eat virtually nothing but grass. Grass is what their teeth and internal biology are designed to consume, process and digest. But, grass is high-fiber and low nutritional density and - although it would be enough to feed a calf - it does not result in a high enough milk yield to satisfy market demand. So, they are supplied with a low-fiber, high-protein feed of grains such as corn and soy along with animal by-products (leftover parts/wastes). Such grain-based feeds are unsuitable for their digestive systems and is thus difficult for them to digest, causing health problems.
(Source: http://advocacy.britannica.com/blog/advocacy/2007/06/dairy-farming/)

* In order for a dairy farm to produce milk, its cows must be lactating. Lactation only happens as a result of the cow having given birth to a calf. This means that a dairy farm cow spends its entire lifetime in an endless cycle of insemination, pregnancy, parturition, and lactation (and separation). (Source: http://www.answers.com/topic/dairy-farm)

What happens to all of those calves?
* Virtually all commercial dairy farms take calves away from their mothers immediately or within a few days of giving birth - undoubtedly a traumatizing experience for both the mother and her brand new offspring. (Dairy farms can't allow the babies to drink the milk which was produced for them by their mothers, because the sole purpose of a commercial dairy farm is to produce, collect and sell the as much of the calves' mother's milk as possible to human consumers.)

* Female calves become dairy cows like their mothers - frequently replacing other members of the herd, as the death rate is high. About half of all calves born will be non milk-producing males. Males are worthless to dairy farmers. So, males are either killed or sold to crated veal farms. These are places where the male calves are chained or tied up - usually in a dark wooden crate or similar tight spot to severely restrict movement - and are fed an iron-deficient liquid diet, so that when they are slaughtered several months later, their meat is pale in color.

* Cows’ natural life expectancy is 20 years or more. But, the average dairy cow lives just 3 to 4 years.

* Beyond the evolutionary and humanitarian/animal cruelty issues, there's the injected synthetic growth hormones ("The United States is the only industrialized nation that permits the use of growth hormone in animals used for food." Source: advocacy.britannica.com), mastitis and various other diseases (including mad-cow), widespread over-use of antibiotics (leading to antibiotic-resistant bacteria), elevated levels of IGF-1/Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1 (both of which are found in the milk) and the amount of phosphorus-dense manure created... but, I'll let you look into these serious issues and other commercial dairy-related potential threats to human health on your own.

So, if not cow's milk, what else?

I've been sticking with organic enriched - contains significant calcium, protein and other vitamins - soy milk.

(And for those who've heard whisperings of too-much-soy related issues, I don't drink a lot of it, I just like it in my coffee.)

Many grocery stores are already offering an ever-increasing variety of non-dairy "milks" on their shelves now. Rice milk, almond milk and hemp milk are just a few of them.

Many product lines include Organic choices and even offer tasty flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry and Coffee.

You can also choose Low-Fat, if you prefer.
