A Conservative State - Utah - Solved Chronic Homelessness And Saved Millions!

Hey, California Governor Jerry Brown!!!

LOOK AT THIS:

"“If you want to end homelessness, you put people in housing,” Walker said in an interview. “This is relatively simple.”"

"... what has been perhaps the nation’s most successful — and radical — program to end chronic homelessness.

Now, more than a decade later, chronic homelessness in one of the nation’s most conservative states may soon end.  And all of it is thanks to a program that at first seems stripped from the bleeding-heart manual.

In 2005, Utah had nearly 1,932 chronically homeless.
By 2014, that number had dropped 72 percent to 539. Today, explained Gordon Walker, the director of the state Housing and Community Development Division, the state is “approaching a functional zero.”

Airbnb Horror Story Begs The Question: How Many Other (Unreported) Victims Are There?

Talk about "Risky Business"...

A 19-year old young man was locked inside a Madrid, Spain apartment, held inside against his will and sexually-assaulted by his Airbnb host on July 4, 2015.

The man began texting his mother - who was in America - by phone as the events began to unfold.  He begged her for help.  His mother called Airbnb, but the company's employees refused to tell her his location, nor would they call the Madrid police.  Instead they told her to call the police and ask them to call Airbnb for the youth's address.  The phone number Airbnb provided led to a recording - in Spanish - and being disconnected.  When she called Airbnb back, her calls went straight to voicemail.

Airbnb was horrifically irresponsible and neglectful in this incident.  Their employees could have and should have immediately called the Madrid police and provided the man's location and urged the police to investigate.

Did you know that, at least, half (if not most) sexual-assaults go unreported?

This incident begs the question of how many others have occurred and how often are sexual-assaults occurring between Airbnb (and similar businesses) "guests" and their "hosts".

When I was a kid, my parents impressed two things on me very strongly:
1.) Don't accept rides from strangers; and
2.) Don't go anywhere with strangers, because terrible things have happened to kids/people who do.

Now, businesses like Airbnb, Uber, Lyft and others are making enormous profits encouraging people to do both of those dangerous things.

And, apparently, they aren't dealing with it too well when it goes sideways.

Netherlands to close prisons for lack of criminals (Decriminalization actually worked?)

"Netherlands to close prisons for lack of criminals"

My 1st Thought when I saw the above-titled article post...

"Bravo Netherlands!"

My 2nd Thought...

"Here's irrefutable proof that All is Not lost. Not only that, but that Humanity would be very wise to cease with the "It's 2012! The Mayan's said the World's gonna end. We're doomed!" nonsense and any other similar thoughts/acts of self- and/or reckless destruction."

Here's the brief yet fabulous news:  http://vorige.nrc.nl/international/article2246821.ece/Netherlands_to_close_prisons_for_lack_of_criminals

From: "My List Of Persons To Whom I Would Happily Do Grievous Bodily Harm To".

From: "My List Of Persons To Whom I Would Happily Do Grievous Bodily Harm To".

The person or persons who set a heavy cinder-block on this sweet dog's head...
... and then set the poor, chained and somewhat abandoned being on fire.

Police in North Carolina are searching for the perpetrator of this despicable daylight deed but, sadly, as of yet haven't much to go on.

I, for one, am hoping that at least one witness (or more) comes forward... Preferably with video evidence.

And for this incarnation of  "Man's Best Friend" to fully recover.

Taliban Whips And Executes Pregnant Widow Accused Of Adultery

(Heart-)Breaking News...

To Be Filed Under: "What Freaking Century Are We In, Again?".

Official Reports From Afghanistan Confirm The Tragic News That The Taliban - After Holding A Pregnant Widow In Captivity For Three Days - Has Executed Her.

The Reason?

The Pregnant Widow Had Been Accused Of Adultery.

My First Question: Is it that the woman didn't "look" pregnant prior to becoming a widow?
Of course, that doesn't mean that she wasn't pregnant.

So, A Pregnant Widow Was Accused Of Adultery And Then Executed.

That's Awful Enough.

But, There's More...

Apparently - In Taliban-Controlled Parts Of Afghanistan - If They Go From "Accusation" Directly To "Execution"... The Amount Of Horror Felt By And Fear Induced In Any Sane Witnesses Would Be Over Too Quickly.

If For Nothing Else, The One Thing The Taliban Can Be Counted On To Do Is This:
Making A World-Horrifying Spectacle Of Public Torture And Execution... Especially If It Involves Women.

In This Particular Case, The Taliban Managed To Abstain From Executing The Pregnant Widow...

Until After They'd Whipped Her 200 Times, Publicly.

And, It Was Only After The Pregnant Widow Had Been Struck 200 Times, That One Of The Taliban Finally Shot Her.

He Shot Her In The Head... Three Times.
(Source: Voice Of America News)

Half-way into the VOA article, my next question was:

"What About The Man?"

If The Widow Was Said To Be "Guilty" Because She Was Pregnant...

Well, Then The Man Who Committed Adultery With Her... The Man Who Impregnated The Widow Was Equally Guilty, Right?

Well, no.

Of course not.

This is the Taliban...

The Man Was Not Flogged.

The Man Was Not Shot - In The Head Or Anywhere Else.

The Man Was Not Punished.

No Justice. No Equality. No Humanity.

And they want to rule over every man, woman, boy and girl in Afghanistan, again.

IMHO: Humanity Must Do Everything It Can To Prevent That From Ever Happening.
