9/11: Explosive Evidence (PBS Documentary) And, How 9/11 Could Have Been Prevented

ICYMI:  It's become quite apparent that - following the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole and, after Alec (CIA) Station's infiltration of a "Terror Summit" held in Malaysia (sometime around 1998-99 and prior to 9/11) that...

Then-CIA Director George Tenet, two of his closest allies (Cofer Black, Richard Blee) and around 50 to 60 other CIA officials knowingly withheld urgent intelligence information from both the (G.W.) Bush and the Clinton White Houses, the FBI, as well as Immigration, the State and the Defense Departments on two known Al-Qaeda operatives (and, later, 9/11 hijackers)  - named al-hazmi and al-mihdhar - both of whom who had entered the United States a year and a half before the attacks and were living in San Diego under their real names.  (Source: Fmr. White House Counter-Terrorism chief,
Richard Clarke)

There was one honest FBI agent (on loan to CIA) with integrity (Doug Miller) who had learned of the CIA's knowledge of the two Al-Qaeda men's presence on American soil and who had, immediately, drafted a cable with the reasonable intention of informing the FBI of this dangerous situation.  Tragically, delivery of that cable was intentionally stopped by another CIA official (identified as Tom Wilshire). Supposedly, this was done because the CIA was hoping to recruit them (Fail.)
. *

(*In other words:  Had the CIA actually shared intelligence (Gasp!) with the FBI in a timely manner... then, the FBI possibly could have prevented 9/11...  and all of the chaos, mayhem, loss of rights & privacy, loss of life (mind you, there were massive losses of life in Afghanistan and Iraq) and the enormous debt.  Oh, wait... AND, the (previously non-existent) spread of Al-Qaeda.  ("Mission Accomplished!", huh?)

Oh yeah... and, later, that same cable was 'accidentally' withheld from the 9/11 Commission's investigations.  Go figure!

Fast forward to 2004: President George W. Bush awards George Tenet the U.S. Medal of Freedom...(sigh).

So...YES!  Without a doubt - No Matter How Painful They May Be To Learn - History and The Truth DO Matter!

And, I - for one -firmly believe You CAN Handle The TRUTH.

So... Check THIS Out...

Got Laws of Physics?: 9/11 3D Analysis - 2016 Update - Richard D. Hall

At first, as I watched and listened to this video, my initial, physical reaction to the 3-D computer model- and electrical-engineer-supported information therein was that I felt like throwing up.

Don't get me wrong, I figured out in the months and years following the events that appeared to play out on 9/11/01 that the, then, developing "official" narrative was patently untrue.  (Give those crafty ol' boys an "A" for effort. In fact, brand it into each of their foreheads with white-hot irons.)

Full Disclosure: This video is painful to watch.  Why?  Because, it can be excruciating to come to the realization that a great many of those things that you've been led to believe - not only about the 9/11 attacks, but also, about America and what she stands for and what America's leaders* are truly capable of (*I'm not talking about then-President George W. Bush - he's a moron.  And, let's be completely honest, he wasn't in charge of anything during his tenure.  He was simply a face who kept a seat warm... and, whose father was a very powerful and wealthy man with very powerful and wealthy friends (Including - among many others - the House of Saud).

Richard Hall - the man who narrates this video - is no fringe conspiracy theorist.  He's a well-educated, scientific, detail-oriented man with a laser-like focus on uncovering the Truth of what really occurred on 9/11/01 in America.

So, yes, it may hurt to watch this video.  In fact, it may just open a sizable wound on one's psyche to discover that you and much of the world were sold a bloody bill of goods by a cabal of old, powerful, wealthy, influential, (mostly) white men whose primary objective is to not only maintain their current power, wealth and influence, but to increase and secure it.

Yes, a horrifying series of events occurred on 9/11/01.  And, yes, a particular group of men orchestrated and carried out a number of heinous crimes on 9/11/01.  BUT, they may not have been the events that you thought you saw (intentionally replayed over and over again, ad nauseum, for years) nor the alleged perpetrators (19 so-called 'hijackers' - 15 of which were Saudi, mind you - who were barely able to fly Cessna aircraft) that were blamed (Can you say "Scapegoats", boys and girls? Good!  How about "Patsies"?  I knew you could!).

Especially noteworthy items in this video:
*Woman in video clip exclaiming, "What the hell is THAT?!" as she and a man watched and videotaped object approaching second tower.  She undoubtedly knew what a plane looked like, so why not shout, "Look at that plane!" or some-such, instead?

*The "Road-Runner" Effect:
The unforgettable sight of the outline of "plane" - from wing-tip to wing-tip - on the exterior of the second tower where the object - allegedly a 767 commercial airliner (with wings constructed of struts and, mostly, air and covered with an aluminum skin a mere 1/10th of an inch thick) was seen to have simply "melted" into and "sliced through" multiple weight-bearing iron beams that were not only holding a 100+ floor skyscraper upright and together, but, were specifically-designed to withstand plane strikes.  (Not to mention the fact that, in a close-up video clip included in the 'official story' video-clip compilation, one can clearly see a secondary incendiary explosion - following the initial impact and smoke cloud - and watch as the 'fire' burns a plane wing-tip-shaped outline into the skin of the second tower... creating that silhouette we all remember vividly, but which is, actually, a physical impossibility:  As stated above, the wings of an actual 767 airliner are constructed of aluminum and the wing-tips are particularly fragile.  Therefore, there is, unequivocally, no way in Heaven or on Earth that aluminum airplane wings are ever going to strike a steel-framed structure and slice through it like a hot knife through butter... except, perhaps, within the utterly-unreal confines of a Looney-Tunes cartoon.  IF the object that hit the second tower had actually been a commercial 767 airliner, then the wings -in particular - would have been sheared off or simply destroyed on impact.  Hard landings have been known to cause wings or tail-sections to separate from the fuselage of these aircraft.  #TruthBomb.

*The fact that, in the official version of events, it's claimed that the alleged 'airliner' that struck the second tower was traveling at over 500 mph when it hit the building.  That's an airspeed that's physically-impossible for a 767 at/near sea level.  (But, it's totally possible for a Raytheon Block IV Missile...)

(...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead)** Please See Bottom of Page About This.

*The fact that - on a clear, sunny morning, one in which even the WTC towers, themselves, glistened - the alleged polished, aluminium 'airliner' looks like a flat, black, smoky smudge in the sky in virtually all of the 50 or so videos collected.

And, much, much more.

Please watch this video, closely, with an open-mind, healthy skepticism and your critical-thinking caps on.

And, then, most importantly: Decide For Yourselves What Really Happened (or Didn't Really Happen) on September 11, 2001.  And, then, Please Share This Video With Your Friends and Family and Everyone.  Thank you.
"I'd rather be struck with the TRUTH than be caressed with LIES."

** I have no idea where this sentence came from.  I swear.  It just appeared as I was writing this post.  That said, I find it perfectly appropriate and fitting, so I'm leaving it where it appeared. - L.

9/11: A 'Conspiracy' Theory In Less Than 5 Minutes

Please Watch & Share!

One of the best (if not "The Best") brief (yet thorough) accounts of the events on 9/11/01.*
(*It's under 5 minutes in length.)

And, please don't be put off by their choice of the word "Conspiracy" in the title, as there have been countless "conspiracies" throughout history - a great many of which turned out to be TRUE - and, a large percentage of those were perpetrated by your Uncle Sam!

Enjoy!

Debunking the Debunkers: Top 40 Reasons the Official 9/11 Story is Bunk!

In honor of All Souls who were lost on 9/11/01.

And, in honor of All Souls who have been lost since then... having fallen victim to America's (perpetual, military-industrial complex-supported) "War On Terror".

Also, in honor of all of the Constitutionally-Protected Rights and Privacies (which countless Americans fought and died to protect over the last 239 years) Americans have had so heinously taken away from them.

US Coalition Bills Iraq $260 Million For... Failure to Stop ISIS Advances

ISIL (ISIS) and Ebola have been running neck and neck in the race to be the mainstream media's Imminent-Danger Darlings ("This is CNN: Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid.").

I thought I'd dig up a truthful, timely and pertinent article on the fight against ISIL (ISIS).

When I heard that a U.S.-led coalition was going to be flying sorties/air strikes against ISIL, my first thought was, "Well, those a**holes are finally gonna get what they deserve.".

Sadly, not only has ISIL getting their just desserts not been the result of military activities but, apparently, the U.S.-led coalition is planning on billing Iraq hundreds of millions of dollars (that Iraq never agreed to pay in the first place) for... what exactly?

Cities are reported under siege.  Cities are allowed to fall (It's not a tactically significant target.").  But, significant for whom?  The people living somewhere ISIL is about to overrun?  The priceless archaeological treasures which are part of humanity's collective heritage and are being plundered?  I've heard war is good for the economy, but shouldn't it also be good for something other than making money?  If that's at all possible?

"The Iraqi people and their political leadership were optimistic when the United States first announced its intention to form an international military coalition to assist Iraq in its war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). At the time, everyone assumed that a solution was close and that Western jet fighters will wipe out ISIS. They all believed that the Obama administration will be Iraq’s savior from terrorism."

"Ever since the onset of the aerial campaign, coalition aircrafts have focused on the border region between Mosul under ISIS control and Iraq’s Kurdistan in the north, raising suspicions that the West is actually worried about its own interests and is not fighting terrorism, especially since some threatening rallies have emerged near Baghdad, but the West has so far refrained from targeting them."

Here's a direct link to an eye-opening article about the coalition's activities, the actual results of those activities and the cost (From globalresearch.ca):

Check out this brief interview by Stephen Colbert of filmmaker Errol Morris ("The Thin, Blue Line", "The Fog Of War").  I think you'll find it surprisingly, sublimely awesome.

Morris' newest documentary, "The 'Unknown Known's" is opening "in theatres and on demand" this week.

My Favorite Parts?  The clip of Donald Rumsfeld saying they weren't all "torture memos"; Admitting that he, as then-Secretary of Defense, "... never read them." and,

oh, of his being proud of how he 'won' that round of questioning.

No responsibility.  Not an ounce of respect.  And, absolutely no sense of all that was lost.

What a loser!

No Money for Bold Men - The Shame-O-Meter

On February 28th, Senate "Support Our Troops!" Republicans killed a bill which would have expanded education and healthcare for America's veterans.

When questioned about their decision, they claimed they had no choice, since the VA had such a poor track record concerning services and spending.  The funny (funny strange, not funny Haha) thing about that...  Congressional Republicans didn't find it an obstacle, back in 2008, when they agreed to continue funding the Iraq War - despite the fact that the Pentagon couldn't account for a $15 Billion (with a "B") worth of goods and services.

As an alternative, to prove that they weren't unsympathetic of our troops, those same Senate Republicans offered to pass the bill if they could make one change: add on a bill in support of sanctions against Iran.

'Cause as every Congressional Republican will show you, it's our future veterans that we need to focus on/create a conflict for... not our past millions of them.

That's not all, folks.  Kansas GOP Senator, Jerry Moran, blocked the long-delayed floor debate on the issue of sexual assault in the military, insisting that the debate should be linked to new sanctions against Iran...

What will it take for enough good people to get so fed-up and/or angry and/or disappointed with these piss poor excuses for used car salesmen and fire them for incompetence??  War-mongering??  Dereliction of duty??  How 'bout Fraud??  Fraud sounds good...

No Money for Bold Men - The Shame-O-Meter: The Senate uses Iran sanctions to bring shafting veterans to a whole new level.

Obama's Speech/Iraq War End - GOP Says Bush Owed Thanks

President Obama spoke from The Oval Office on Tuesday - marking the end of combat operations in Iraq.

There was one thing which - although it remained unmentioned - still managed to be the unavoidable and enormous elephant in the Oval Office...

In his address to the nation, President Obama did refer to former President Bush's role as the "decider" who had initiated the Iraq War, yet he concluded his speech without ever calling attention to the actions of the Bush Administration - including the seemingly endless string of blatant lies and and fact-free fear-mongering - used by that Administration to - at first - justify the invasion of Iraq and then, to justify maintaining a huge military presence and occupying the country. (The Bush Administration - especially Dick Cheney and GWB himself - proved on more than a few occasions that they had absolutely no qualms about standing before the national and world press and spinning further fabricated fish-tales as needed after the previous one was exposed.)

When Obama referred to his predecessor, he did so only briefly and without including the little tidbit about him being the same man who deserves to be, ultimately, the one person held responsible for every one of the 4400 dead Americans and countless civilian casualties which were a direct result of Bush's decision to go to war.

President Bush is ultimately responsible, as well, for the countless billions of American dollars which were poured into the Iraq war and/or lost to members of the corrupt leadership there... Billions of dollars which would have better served Americans and American interests if invested in education, job creation, infrastructure, etc. here at home.

In keeping his remarks about Bush brief, President Obama continued to prove his previously-stated interest of looking ahead, not behind.

So, even though he could have taken advantage of these issues, President Obama, instead, chose to take the high road.

Once again, President Obama showed that he - for one - has something called Integrity.

You'd think that such graciousness would be appreciated.

Not so.

Despite having been given this hugely-undeserved pass by the current President during a major public address being watched by millions...

Despite the fact that Obama made the conscious decision not kick Republicans when they're already down - something the GOP would never do if the situation were reversed - Senior GOP members of Congress simply couldn't leave it alone.

Apparently, they misinterpreted President Obama's show of integrity as a sign of weakness - which is understandable, as many of them lack integrity and wouldn't recognize such a valuable character trait even if it were right in front... well, where it was.

The GOP leadership's hot air-filled, self-deluded response to Obama abstaining from beating their dead elephant points to their utter inability to simply sit down, thank their lucky stars and shut the hell up - even if it's in their own best interest to do so.

John Boehner criticized Obama's earlier opposition to the Bush surge which led to this "result" - namely, the end of the war.

Mr. Boehner, I have three words for you: "No Exit Strategy".

And, John Boehner wasn't the only windbag who foolishly tried to draw political capital - in a situation where there was none to be gained.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch "Crazy Mac" McConnell (R-KY) also seemed to feel that former President Bush had in some way been slighted by Obama's omission of his "achievements".

McConnell was all fired up over his perception that President Bush hadn't received the credit due to him for his contributions to this moment and moved quickly to call everyone's attention to what Obama hadn't: namely that without Bush's tireless efforts to initiate the Iraq War, the end of combat operations in Iraq wouldn't have been possible.

McConnell stood in front of a microphone and cameras and said, "I think that we should be thankful that another President had the determination and the will to carry out the plan that made tonight's announcement possible.".

* In other words, what McConnell is saying is that if then-President Bush hadn't brought about the start of the Iraq War, then President Obama wouldn't have this great opportunity to be marking The End of it.

Wow.

The senior Congressional GOP leadership actually wants us to be thankful that President Bush started the Iraq War.

Really? You guys want a "Thank You"?

Well, OK...

Senator Boehner, Senator McConnell (and all others of like mind):

I freely offer my "Thank You, President George W. Bush, For Starting The Iraq War":

Thank You, former President Bush, for setting a global precedent - one which other nations may very well invoke in the future to justify their own military actions - in which a sitting head of state chooses - unilaterally - to initiate an utterly unprovoked bombing & full-scale military invasion of a sovereign nation - a nation which was of no immediate nor direct threat... and for justifying all of it with lie after lie after lie and for having no exit strategy.

Thank You. Thanks a lot.

It is my most sincere hope that you, sir, receive all the credit (and everything else) you deserve for all that you did to make the unprovoked Iraq War a bloody, deadly and hugely-expensive reality... which is now, thankfully, coming to an end.

There, Mitch... John... that pretty much covers it.

Peace.

Forget Waldo... Where in the World Has Dick Cheney Been?

I’ll admit it...
I’ve never been good at the whole linear, one-way, march of death, time thing...

Sometimes it goes forward...
...And sometimes it starts off going forward... but then, before you know it, it’s leaped backwards and you get to work 15 minutes early...
...Even though you were running at least 25 minutes late (Who says prayer doesn’t work?).

I don’t know about your experience of personal reality...
But, to me... in mine, it seems like everything’s been quiet for months... A good 6-10 months...
(if you don’t count the back-and-forth political camPai(g)n poking or the (as GWB put it:) "challenging" (snicker) economic tumult.)

Now...
...Suddenly...
...Out of No Where...
...They begin to arrive...
...Multiple reports of a Sighting... of... HIM!

You listen - somewhat in shock - to the horrible chorus repeated by all the news anchors...
Their words pepper you...their meaning stings...

...It’s like... Well... a shotgun blast to the face...

Heeeeeeee’s Baaaaack!

In spite of the fact that he’s (allegedly) thousands of miles away... the mere mention of his human name makes your stomach queasy... Your heart starts pounding in your chest and thumping in your ears...

... "No!", you silently scream, in anguish. It can’t be! Not... Him!

It had been so long... No one had seen him... Not one news show or front page headline had mentioned his name...for so long that...

... You thought... Well... Hoped against Hope... No... Wished, yeah, Wished (that’s it!) that he was ... well... Gone!

Didn’t We All? (OK, except maybe for the wife...)

Who am I talking about?

Well, the One and Only Terrible Troll himself... The Ho of Halliburton...

Mr. Dick (and I do mean "Dick") Cheney, of course!

Is it me? Or has this carbon-based carbuncle been M.I.A for the last six to ten months?

In my little Reality, Dick had pretty much stopped existing (... OK, stop snickering, you know what I meant.)

It’s kinda been like it was right after the Sept.11th attacks... You know... The media was reporting every detail of GWB’s whereabouts at all times... But you couldn’t get a bead on Cheney to save your life.

Maybe he’s been holed up in another bunker?

Hey, Dick... Did the ol’ Ticker stop ticking?

You know what... Maybe Dick did die... and Halliburton (or a subsidiary) has spent the better part of the last year cloning him...

Until the other day when...

..."Abracadabra!"... or "Rumplestiltskin!"... or even... "He’s Alive!"...

...And now...

In a sorrowful surprise to us all...

Dick has risen up from the grave and found himself in...

...Iraq... (Hmm... maybe he never left?)...

... He’s slapping backs and saying things to the effect of: "Look at all this Progress we’ve made!" and "Everything’s coming up bases... Uh, I mean roses!"

***A Personal Aside Here: L’Chaim!... Now, What about the Hurricane-and-Flood decimated Gulf Coast, Mr. Vice President... Why don’t you make some Formaldehyde-free Progress THERE?***
(Thanks, I just couldn’t help myself.)

"Success", you say? "It was worth it.", you say?

Of course you would sneer that...

"The goal for the invasion was permanent occupation of Iraq as America’s "police station" in the middle east. By that standard the 14 permanent bases are doing just fine, thanks. (Reference: Project for the New American Century)" (Fromsalon.com)

Hey, Dick! Why don’t you crawl/slither/drip back into that hole you’ve been hiding/being reconstituted in... and don’t come back until... well, at least Halloween or January 2nd.

Peace.

False Pretenses, Misinformation and The Mushroom Cloud...Or, Lies My President Told Me

Winter Greetings!
I hope you all are keeping warm and staying healthy.

Upon hearing about the Center for Public Integrity's Project "War Card" - which thoroughly examined the actual words spoken by all of the major players in the 'orchestrated deception on the path to war' in Iraq...
My immediate thoughts were two little words that I can still hear reverberating in my brain... as spoken by George W., himself: "Mushroom Cloud",
Well, perhaps they aren't so little, when you take into account what enormous horrors they are referring to.
So, I took the time to look up when these words were spoken, so that I may give criminal credit where criminal credit is due. Much to my surprise, I discovered that it was actually Condi Rice who Spewed the phrase out first, only a couple of months prior to George...
Perhaps to gauge public response to the use of such an incendiary and visual phrase?
Needless to say...
If the We The People were too busy, lazy or apathetic to fill the streets across this Nation... in Protest over (Obscene)Supreme Court's Florida Decision and the summary Unlawful Occupation of the White House...
Well, then they probably weren't too worried about it.

If you Love to research the Whacked and Wacky Words of the W. Regime and have the actual quotes to present to any remaining Bush-Backers...
Check out the massive and fully-searchable database at CPI's website.
It includes the public statements, drawn from both primary sources and secondary sources, over the two years beginning on September 11, 2001. It also WISELY interlaces relevant records/information from more than 25 government reports, books, articles, speeches, and interviews.

On September 8, 2002, in an interview with Wolf Blitzer,
National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice boiled the administration's case down to a single line that evoked both the uncertainty and the risk associated with Iraq: "We don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."

From: The Nation's Calvin Trillin:
On the Confirmation of Condoleezza

The mushroom-shaped cloud Condi spun
As being the next smoking gun
Was hooey invented to show
Attacking Iraq's apropos.

(The Truly Funny and Ironic Thing I Noted About the Above Statement, in light of the release of the results of the Misinformation Study...
Is The Title of the Press Release For the Speech...
It is Titled: "Iraq... Denial and Deception")
*Hmm... Maybe they didn't specify who was doing the denying and deceiving for a reason?

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld And, Alas, Powell Talk To the American People

That nukes could quickly come our way--
Saddam might, with a finger snap,

They took a lack of proof in stride.
They simply lied.

Intelligence? The Pentagon's

Employed to find Iraq in back
Of every terrorist attack.
With facts that failed to serve their side,
They simply lied.

False Pretenses
Following 9/11, President Bush and seven top officials of his administration waged a carefully orchestrated campaign of misinformation about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

By Charles Lewis and Mark Reading-Smith

President George W. Bush and seven of his administration's top officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, an exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.

On at least 532 separate occasions (in speeches, briefings, interviews, testimony, and the like), Bush and these three key officials, along with Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, and White House press secretaries Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan, stated unequivocally that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (or was trying to produce or obtain them), links to Al Qaeda, or both. This concerted effort was the underpinning of the Bush administration's case for war.

It is now beyond dispute that Iraq did not possess any weapons of mass destruction or have meaningful ties to Al Qaeda. This was the conclusion of numerous bipartisan government investigations, including those by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (2004 and 2006), the 9/11 Commission, and the multinational Iraq Survey Group, whose "Duelfer Report" established that Saddam Hussein had terminated Iraq's nuclear program in 1991 and made little effort to restart it.

In short, the Bush administration led the nation to war on the basis of erroneous information that it methodically propagated and that culminated in military action against Iraq on March 19, 2003. Not surprisingly, the officials with the most opportunities to make speeches, grant media interviews, and otherwise frame the public debate also made the most false statements, according to this first-ever analysis of the entire body of prewar rhetoric.

President Bush, for example, made 232 false statements about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and another 28 false statements about Iraq's links to Al Qaeda. Secretary of State Powell had the second-highest total in the two-year period, with 244 false statements about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and 10 about Iraq's links to Al Qaeda. Rumsfeld and Fleischer each made 109 false statements, followed by Wolfowitz (with 85), Rice (with 56), Cheney (with 48), and McClellan (with 14).

The massive database at the heart of this project juxtaposes what President Bush and these seven top officials were saying for public consumption against what was known, or should have been known, on a day-to-day basis. This fully searchable database includes the public statements, drawn from both primary sources (such as official transcripts) and secondary sources (chiefly major news organizations) over the two years beginning on September 11, 2001. It also interlaces relevant information from more than 25 government reports, books, articles, speeches, and interviews.

Consider, for example, these false public statements made in the run-up to war:

* On August 26, 2002, in an address to the national convention of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Cheney flatly declared: "Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us." In fact, former CIA Director George Tenet later recalled, Cheney's assertions went well beyond his agency's assessments at the time. Another CIA official, referring to the same speech, told journalist Ron Suskind, "Our reaction was, 'Where is he getting this stuff from?' "
* In the closing days of September 2002, with a congressional vote fast approaching on authorizing the use of military force in Iraq, Bush told the nation in his weekly radio address: "The Iraqi regime possesses biological and chemical weapons, is rebuilding the facilities to make more and, according to the British government, could launch a biological or chemical attack in as little as 45 minutes after the order is given. . . . This regime is seeking a nuclear bomb, and with fissile material could build one within a year." A few days later, similar findings were also included in a much-hurried National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction — an analysis that hadn't been done in years, as the intelligence community had deemed it unnecessary and the White House hadn't requested it.
* In July 2002, Rumsfeld had a one-word answer for reporters who asked whether Iraq had relationships with Al Qaeda terrorists: "Sure." In fact, an assessment issued that same month by the Defense Intelligence Agency (and confirmed weeks later by CIA Director Tenet) found an absence of "compelling evidence demonstrating direct cooperation between the government of Iraq and Al Qaeda." What's more, an earlier DIA assessment said that "the nature of the regime's relationship with Al Qaeda is unclear."
* On May 29, 2003, in an interview with Polish TV, President Bush declared: "We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories." But as journalist Bob Woodward reported in State of Denial, days earlier a team of civilian experts dispatched to examine the two mobile labs found in Iraq had concluded in a field report that the labs were not for biological weapons. The team's final report, completed the following month, concluded that the labs had probably been used to manufacture hydrogen for weather balloons.
* On January 28, 2003, in his annual State of the Union address, Bush asserted: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa. Our intelligence sources tell us that he has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production." Two weeks earlier, an analyst with the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research sent an email to colleagues in the intelligence community laying out why he believed the uranium-purchase agreement "probably is a hoax."
* On February 5, 2003, in an address to the United Nations Security Council, Powell said: "What we're giving you are facts and conclusions based on solid intelligence. I will cite some examples, and these are from human sources." As it turned out, however, two of the main human sources to which Powell referred had provided false information. One was an Iraqi con artist, code-named "Curveball," whom American intelligence officials were dubious about and in fact had never even spoken to. The other was an Al Qaeda detainee, Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi, who had reportedly been sent to Eqypt by the CIA and tortured and who later recanted the information he had provided. Libi told the CIA in January 2004 that he had "decided he would fabricate any information interrogators wanted in order to gain better treatment and avoid being handed over to [a foreign government]."

The false statements dramatically increased in August 2002, with congressional consideration of a war resolution, then escalated through the mid-term elections and spiked even higher from January 2003 to the eve of the invasion.

It was during those critical weeks in early 2003 that the president delivered his State of the Union address and Powell delivered his memorable U.N. presentation. For all 935 false statements, including when and where they occurred, go to the search page for this project; the methodology used for this analysis is explained here.

In addition to their patently false pronouncements, Bush and these seven top officials also made hundreds of other statements in the two years after 9/11 in which they implied that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or links to Al Qaeda. Other administration higher-ups, joined by Pentagon officials and Republican leaders in Congress, also routinely sounded false war alarms in the Washington echo chamber.

The cumulative effect of these false statements — amplified by thousands of news stories and broadcasts — was massive, with the media coverage creating an almost impenetrable din for several critical months in the run-up to war. Some journalists — indeed, even some entire news organizations — have since acknowledged that their coverage during those prewar months was far too deferential and uncritical. These mea culpas notwithstanding, much of the wall-to-wall media coverage provided additional, "independent" validation of the Bush administration's false statements about Iraq.

The "ground truth" of the Iraq war itself eventually forced the president to backpedal, albeit grudgingly. In a 2004 appearance on NBC's Meet the Press, for example, Bush acknowledged that no weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq. And on December 18, 2005, with his approval ratings on the decline, Bush told the nation in a Sunday-night address from the Oval Office: "It is true that Saddam Hussein had a history of pursuing and using weapons of mass destruction. It is true that he systematically concealed those programs, and blocked the work of U.N. weapons inspectors. It is true that many nations believed that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. But much of the intelligence turned out to be wrong. As your president, I am responsible for the decision to go into Iraq. Yet it was right to remove Saddam Hussein from power."

Bush stopped short, however, of admitting error or poor judgment; instead, his administration repeatedly attributed the stark disparity between its prewar public statements and the actual "ground truth" regarding the threat posed by Iraq to poor intelligence from a Who's Who of domestic agencies.

On the other hand, a growing number of critics, including a parade of former government officials, have publicly — and in some cases vociferously — accused the president and his inner circle of ignoring or distorting the available intelligence. In the end, these critics say, it was the calculated drumbeat of false information and public pronouncements that ultimately misled the American people and this nation's allies on their way to war.

Bush and the top officials of his administration have so far largely avoided the harsh, sustained glare of formal scrutiny about their personal responsibility for the litany of repeated, false statements in the run-up to the war in Iraq. There has been no congressional investigation, for example, into what exactly was going on inside the Bush White House in that period. Congressional oversight has focused almost entirely on the quality of the U.S. government's pre-war intelligence — not the judgment, public statements, or public accountability of its highest officials. And, of course, only four of the officials — Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz — have testified before Congress about Iraq.

Short of such review, this project provides a heretofore unavailable framework for examining how the U.S. war in Iraq came to pass. Clearly, it calls into question the repeated assertions of Bush administration officials that they were the unwitting victims of bad intelligence.

Above all, the 935 false statements painstakingly presented here finally help to answer two all-too-familiar questions as they apply to Bush and his top advisers: What did they know, and when did they know it?

Iraq rape soldier given life sentence

Abeer Qassim al-Janabi died at the young age of 14... Well, she didn't so much die as she was brutally gang-raped and murdered by several drunken, hateful, vicious and vile mental midgets who happened to join the Army and went to Iraq - apparently with little to no supervision where they were posted. These soldiers also murdered, in cold blood, her 4 Year Old Sister and her Mother and her Father - witnesses are messy. (?) Messy? They left a mess when they were done... After being brutalized by these pieces of shit, one of them shot her in the face. Then, (like I said...Mental Midgets.) they tried to set her on fire. Then they set her what had been her home on fire. She was found, by neighbors responding to the blaze, with her dress still pulled up above her waist... and burned from the waist up. Her 4 yr. old sister had been murdered, and both her parents' bodied were bullet-riddled. Those guilty tried to blame the deaths on the insurgency. Thankfully, someone came forward with the Truth.

People who do things like this make me want to become... a 'cleaner' of sorts... In case the Justice System or the Military Justice System fails to secure and isolate these soulless, piss-poor excuses for Human Beings... as just a hobby...You know, then someone would go clean up the mess that is them. They are the necrotic tissue on the body of humanity, and they need to be cut out... to prevent any more of the human body becoming contaminated by them, ending up permanently damaged and/or dying.

Abeer had been terrified of these men. She had to pass them daily and it must have been an awful experience. She finally told her mother about the soldiers' unwanted, frightening advances {(A) She was 14 yrs old! and B) As they were Muslim. Under Islam, You don't treat girls or women like that.}.

Imagine for a moment...
You are a child.
Doing what children do... Playing, learning, helping your parents...
An unprovoked war comes to your home.
Your country sustains a massive bombing.
Many thousands of women, men and children are killed and injured.
The bombing finally ends.
You and your family all survived.
Men with automatic weapons show up.
They aren't your countrymen.
They aren't Muslim, like you and all you know are.
They're the ones who were doing the bombing... to find WMD...
No, now it's to "free" you from Saddam's rule, to bring "Democracy" to your country.
They don't speak any Arabic, they don't even try.
They bark orders at you and others in a foreign language... and get angry when you don't understand what they are saying.
They yell. They drink. They laugh. They point their guns at people, then laugh some more.
They all focus on you as you walk by. You wish you didn't have to pass them, but you have no choice. Perhaps they try to touch you. It isn't right. They make you very scared. They know where you live... because they've followed you home before.
What can you do?
They have guns. They won't stop. They won't leave you alone.
You tell your Mother that you fear they will come to for you at night, after they've been drinking. She contacts a relative who says you can stay with them. She says to come the next night. You feel a little better, but still anxious. You cannot wait to get away to where you'll feel safer. You lay in bed, but cannot sleep. You keep picturing them, hearing their taunting, laughing.
Suddenly, there's a loud and heavy banging at the door. Your heart starts pounding. You hear the door forced open. You hear men's voices... It's them! You hear your Father yelling...You cannot breath. You hear your Mother start to cry... You start to cry...You hear them coming toward you, you're frozen in terror... They're coming... and you are 14 years old and you are all alone... with them...

Abeer survived the "Shock and Awe" campaign... but not the Shockingly and Awfully Incompetent Occupation.

She did nothing to these men. They were armed foreigners occupying her home.
Now, instead of any number of things a 14 yr. old girl would be doing, dreaming of, playing with her 4 year old sister, looking forward to...
Instead of that... she's dead. And she was forced to endure what must have been the most unimaginably horrific final hours. Did she hear her family being killed? Can you imagine being 14, being raped... and the last thing you see is a gun barrel pointed at your face?
She's gone. Along with her family.
They were just trying to live their lives.
Now they're all dead. And since Abeer was murdered, relatives are close-lipped. - In their culture, any sexual activity - including rape - a girl outside of marriage brings shame to the entire family. They just wanted to leave it in the past.

Thankfully, someone grew a conscience. Someone said something. And word got out to the press... including Bloggers. Which made it virtually impossible for the military to successfully cover it up, hide the crimes. They tried to "spin" the story, though. At first they said that it was "insurgents". The neighbors knew better. Then they said the victim was a 20 yr. old woman... No, it was a 50 yr. old woman... As if the violent rape and murder of a young woman, or the rape of an older woman is somehow less of a horrible crime than that of a child. Rape is Rape. It is a violent violation of a human being's body. It is a crime. Personally, I feel that, if it can be known for sure that a rape has taken place and who the rapist(s) is(are)... They should be eligible for capital punishment. Dead men don't rape. At the very least, lock them up for the rest of their lives - no possibility of parole. The victim recieved a "life sentence", so too, should the rapist.

Now, the first defendent in the trial of Abeer's rapists/murderers has been sentenced... A Life Sentence... Up to 90 years... Hurrah! Some semblance of Justice... But, he'll be eligible for parole in 20 years. Boooo!
Abeer and her family will still be dead.
These men were given the power over life and death by the Bush Admin... given individual weapons of mass destruction, themselves. Sent to attack another sovereign nation. Trained in combat, but not cultural competence. Apparently, no senior officer was overseeing them, checking in on them. They started thinking that they were "in charge", could do whatever they wanted to a people they had begun to hate... They didn't hate their superiors... Bush, Cheney or Rumsfeld... for sending them to Hell... They hated the people whom they were "bringing Democracy to".
What these men actually brought to Iraq was horrible violence and racism.
What they brought to America was enormous shame and increased international contempt.
Maybe it was a plea bargain... But if those unimaginable crimes had happened here, on American soil... I would think they would all recieve the death penalty for their barbarism.

A US soldier has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for conspiring to rape a 14-year-old Iraqi and kill her and her family.

Specialist James Barker was yesterday told he must serve 20 years before he could be considered for parole.

The 23-year-old - one of four US soldiers accused over the rape and killings - pleaded guilty and agreed to give evidence against the others to avoid the death penalty.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Anderson, the military judge presiding over the case at a military court in Kentucky, told Barker: "This court sentences you to be confined for the length of your natural life, with the eligibility of parole."

The rape of Abeer Qassim al-Janabi and the killings happened in Mahmoudiya, a village around 20 miles south of Baghdad. They are among the worst in a series of alleged attacks on civilians and other abuses by military personnel in Iraq.

Barker told investigators that, on March 12 this year, the soldiers - from the 101st Airborne Division - drank whiskey mixed with an energy drink and played cards as they planned the attack on the girl and her family.

He said that he, former Private Steven Green and another soldier, Sergeant Paul Cortez, had taken turns to rape the girl, and said Mr Green shot her, her parents and her six-year-old sister.

Mr Green, charged in a civilian court with rape and murder, has pleaded not guilty. Sgt Cortez, charged with rape and murder, has deferred entering a plea.

On Wednesday, Barker confessed to the crimes as part of a plea agreement requiring him to give evidence against the other accused. He showed no reaction when his sentence was read out yesterday.

Earlier, he had wept during his closing statement. He accepted responsibility for the rape and killings, saying the violence he had encountered in Iraq left him "angry and mean" towards Iraqis.

"I want the people of Iraq to know that I did not go there to do the terrible things that I did," Barker said. "I do not ask anyone to forgive me today.

"To live there, to survive there, I became angry and mean. I loved my friends, my fellow soldiers and my leaders, but I began to hate everyone else in Iraq."

After Barker's sentencing, military prosecutors declined to comment because three other soldiers have yet to be tried in the case. The sentence, which is subject to review by a higher military authority, could be reduced.

During evidence intended to show the judge that Barker could be rehabilitated, his fellow soldiers described weeks with little support and sleep as they manned checkpoints.

Captain William Fischbach, the lead prosecutor, told the court that such conditions were no excuse for Barker, who led the group of soldiers to the family's house, and said no one deserved to suffer the horrors inflicted on the teenage girl and her family.

"This ... 14-year-old girl never fired bullets or lobbed mortars," Capt Fischbach said as he held photographs of the victims. "Society should not have to bear the risk of the accused among them ever again."

The defendants are accused of burning the girl's body to conceal the crime. Authorities had believed the family had been killed by insurgents until a member of the military unit involved came forward.

Mr Green's involvement has raised questions about the army's recruiting procedures in an increasingly unpopular war that has killed nearly 3,000 US troops.

He entered the army soon after being arrested for underage drinking, and had a record of alcohol and drug abuse.

To make up for a recruitment shortfall, the army has begun accepting a higher number of "category four" candidates who score low on a military aptitude test.

The charges:

Specialist James Barker

Convicted of rape and murder.

Sergeant Paul Cortez

Charged with rape and murder. Deferred entering a plea; trial date yet to be set. Could face death penalty.

Private Jesse Spielman

Charged with rape and murder. Barker did not name Pte Spielman as a participant in the rape and murders, but said he had been at the house when the assault took place and had come knowing what the others intended to do. Pte Spielman is to be brought before a court in December, and could face the death penalty.

Private Bryan Howard

Charged with rape and murder. Barker did not say Pte Howard was a participant in the rape and murders. Prosecutors yesterday said Pte Howard had been left behind at a checkpoint. He is yet to enter a plea, and is not facing the death penalty.

Former private Steven Green

Charged in a civilian court with murder and sexual assault, and has pleaded not guilty. He was discharged from the army before the charges. It is unclear whether the death penalty would apply.
