Both houses of the New Jersey legislature have approved the bill that would allow same-sex couples to marry and sent it on to GOP Gov. Chris Christie's desk, where it should've been signed into law.
Sadly, the not-such-a-good-fella Governor - having already declared that he would Veto any such bill - did just that.
Christie also declared that this Civil Rights Issue should, instead, be put to a popular vote.
(I cannot believe that - in this, the 21st Century - I actually have to say this, but...)
Dear (? Ugh.) Governor Christie:
No One's "Civil Rights" Should Ever Be Put To A "Popular Vote".
Civil Rights are - according to our Founding Documents - "Inalienable", sir.
And, unfortunately, it is both sad and true that, if we - as a country - were in the habit of putting any/all Civil Rights up for Popular Votes...
Well then, women would likely still be unable to vote and African Americans (and other minorities) would have no legal protection from racial discrimination.
Duh! (What a freaking dumb a**...)
